JULY 10 - 13, 2008

What's New in 2008???
We have several goals for OSD every year. We strive to provide quality entertainment for a low price. We also find it necessary to keep adding new attractions to keep the festival fresh - and something to anticipate every year. We've also added all these extras below!

With our Bigger Bands - We've had to upgrade our stage!

Frequently asked questions regarding the festival:

With the current flooding, where is OSD going to be held?
Where Can I Buy Admission Buttons?
I'm under 21, and I want to see the bands, how do I get into the beer tent?
What do you do with the money you raise from Old Settler's Days?
Why isn't OSD held on Main Street anymore?

With the current flooding, where is OSD going to be held?
We have determined there is enough usable space in the Settlers Park area to hold the festival in the same general location. Things are going to be moved around quite a bit - but we think we've come up with a plan that will work out well! We will not only use the unflooded portion of the park, but all of Hawick Street, the old Grainery plat, and the storefronts on Hawick street.

What do you do with the money you raise from Old Settler's Days?
Old Settler's Days has a long history in Rockton. Starting out years ago on Main Street, and being run by various groups including the OSD Committee, and the Rockton Chamber of Commerce. The Rockton Lion's Club took over the festival about 8 year ago, and it is run by the Lion's Club Volunteers. The profit we make from the festival goes back to the community. The Rockton Lion's Website has a list of organizations and causes we've donated to in the last year.

Why isn't OSD held on Main Street anymore?
There are several reasons, but the biggest one, and most important is that the festival has grown in size over the years and simply won't fit. We only have a few blocks to use downtown to put on the festival, even then we'd impede businesses and private homes. When OSD was on Main Street, we had less than half the carnival rides, and our bands did not draw the large number of people they do now. We had to move to a location that would comfortably and safely accommodate all the residents who wished to attend. By using Settler's Park we feel we still are close enough to downtown to both attract patrons to the Village businesses and to comfortably enjoy the festival.
