Hononegah Forest Preserve: Hononegah is the District’s oldest preserve and one of its most popular. This picturesque preserve along the Rock River offers three shelter houses, two ball fields, a soccer field, and a boat ramp. Sugar River:529-acre tract containing a campground, two picnic shelter houses, a playground and an extensive trail system. This scenic preserve offers a variety of habitats to hike, canoe and explore: woodlands, sand prairie, wetlands and river. Sugar River is the site of the District’s primitive camping area for tent camping right along the river. The shower house facilities at this preserve enhance the camping experience.
